Bibibaft

The best kind of Bakhtiari rugs is called "Bibibaft" after the princess Bibi Khanoum. "Bibibaft" is made out of two words: "Bibi" which is an honorable name for an older lady and "Baft" which means "knot". This very popular and liked princess was concerned about the expansion of the carpet production towards the South West of Isfahan. The Bibibaft with its relatively thick knot is being made approximately in the same quantities with the so called "Garden Design" or as a medallion rug. Altogether a colorful very solid Persian rug.
